World-Class Endurance: The Sydney Marathon Visual Experience
From the nervous energy of the pre-dawn start line to the euphoric finish at the Sydney Opera House, WOOHAH provided the technical backbone for Australia’s premier distance running event. Partnering with Pont3, we delivered a high-pressure, multi-site AV solution designed for total reliability under the gaze of a global audience.
To support the journey of over 40,000 runners, we executed:
- High-Impact Start Line Production: We supplied full AV infrastructure at the start line, ensuring crystal-clear audio for announcements and high-energy visuals to build the atmosphere for the elite and mass-participation waves.
- The Iconic Finish Line Archway: The “hero moment” of the race was our custom LED Finish Line Archway. Engineered for both structural integrity and visual punch, this ROE LED installation provided a dynamic frame for every runner’s crossing, displaying live timing, sponsor branding, and celebratory content.
- Synchronised Finish Line Screens: We deployed multiple LED screens throughout the finish precinct, powered by high-end Media Servers. This ensured that spectators never missed a moment of the lead-pack action, with perfectly synced feeds and real-time data integration.
- Strategic Project Management: Managing an event that spans the entire CBD requires meticulous planning. Our Project Management and Technical Direction teams worked year-round with Pont3 and city stakeholders to navigate road closures, power constraints, and the immense logistical scale of a marathon.
- The “Zero-Failure” Mandate: In a high-pressure environment with incredibly tight build windows, our Operators and Technicians delivered a flawless install. With no room for error, our team’s deep experience with this event allowed us to anticipate challenges and maintain 100% uptime from the first starting gun to the final finisher.
