Tokyo Nights: The ASICS Product Launch Takeover
To celebrate the launch of the ASICS Tokyo Collection, the environment needed to scream “vibrancy, speed, and innovation.” WOOHAH was tasked with a full-stadium technical takeover, converting a standard athletics track into a high-octane, neon-lit “relay circuit” for influencers and athletes alike.
Our technical solution focused on atmosphere and agility:
- Neon Circuit Lighting: We designed a custom Nighttime Lighting Solution that bathed the track in the “Tokyo vibe” – using deep purples and sunrise reds. This included a high-impact Finish Line Chute that gave every runner a cinematic moment as they crossed the line.
- Rapid-Deploy Wireless Audio: To provide high-fidelity Audio Coverage stadium-wide without the hazard of cables across the track, we deployed a wireless Bose speaker network. This ensured the DJ’s energy and live commentary reached every part of the 400m circuit with zero lag.
- Interactive Relay Elements: To support the team-based “Ekiden” relay style, we provided Coloured Glow Battens. These weren’t just props; they were integrated into the visual show, creating streaks of light as runners navigated the dark stadium.
- Architectural Specials: We utilised Coloured Stadium Lighting and Specials to transform the grandstands and media walls into brand-aligned backdrops, ensuring every social media post captured the premium ASICS aesthetic.
- Show Calling & Technical Direction: With multiple relay heats and live DJ transitions, our Technical Director and Show Caller managed the event’s pulse—coordinating lighting shifts and audio cues to keep the “festival” energy high throughout the night.
- Battle-Ready Execution: Our Operators and Technicians managed the complex wireless RF environment of the stadium, delivering a “Technical Mastery” performance that ensured the hardware remained invisible so the brand could shine.
Congratulations to ASICS and Peanut Productions on a high-velocity launch. We’re proud to provide the tech that keeps Melbourne moving.
